Women and those who love them around the world come together on March 8 in observance of International Women’s Day. Started in 1911 by a group of suffragettes, the annual occasion marks a call to action to make the world fair and safe for all women. This year’s theme is #PressforProgess—and although 2017 was an epic year for women mobilizing, there’s still plenty  of progress to be made.

Collective action and shared ownership for driving gender parity is what makes International Women's Day successful. Gloria Steinem, world-renowned feminist, journalist and activist proclaimed:

'The story of women's struggle for equality belongs to no single feminist nor to any one organization but to the collective efforts of all who care about human rights.'
