Yoga for Mamas: A Special Series with Savor it Studios

Belabumbum active is great for prenatal and postnatal yoga classes. We love partnering with health and wellness minded women as part of our #glowonfitmom campaign. Our latest collaboration, however, was extra special. We teamed up with two of my dear friends and fellow third-grade moms, Michelle Cohen of Savor it Studios and photographer Jamie Davis Smith, on a new series highlighting the best pre-natal yoga poses. This project is a perfect blend of our passions and talents. I'm a devout yogi and the designer of a maternity activwear line. Michelle is a certified birth doula and yoga teacher, and Jamie is an incredibly gifted photographer. Somewhere between carpool and class, we dreamed up this awesome collaboration. A few weeks ago we held a special workshop for some of the new and expecting moms from Michelle's prenatal and mommy and me yoga classes. We spent a lovely afternoon of nurturing and sharing with moms and babies, which Jamie captured in a set of beautiful photos. All of the women in the workshop were outfitted in Belabumbum Active's best maternity and nursing pieces. What makes Michelle's style of teaching so great for mamas is her holistic outlook. She's all about empowering women to have their best birth and strongest start to motherhood through yoga. During the workshop, she led her students through a series of poses to alleviate stress, build strength and increase flexibility. She also focused on a set of exercises meant to bring mamas into a deeper space of mindfulness, where they can connect with their babies body, mind, and heart. Learn more about the benefits of different poses, and give them a try: Balancing Table (Dandayamna Bharmanasana) Downward Facing Dog (Adho Mukha Svanasana)
